SWREC Programs

The SWREC oversees and manages several local, state, and federal funded programs.  A brief overview of each program is summarized below.

Overview of Programs

IDEA - Individuals with Disabilities Education Act: "The SWREC is dedicated to the belief that all students with a disability are entitled to receive a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE)."

WIA - Work Force Investment Act: "The SWREC is creating partnerships among students, teachers, educators, employers, service agencies, and those who care about the future of Sierra County Youth."

Medicaid - School Based Services: "The SWREC is maximizing Medicaid reimbursement for services school districts provide to eligible students and to assist these districts with regulatory compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)."

Federal Consolidated Application: "The SWREC facilitates the participation of the five consortium districts in the Safe and Drug Free Schools project."

TUPAC - Tobacco Usage Prevention and Control: Through a variety of activities the SWREC supports districts in their efforts to prevent students from smoking.

Distance Education:  The SWREC has applied for am received 2 grants from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Rural Utilities Service to install distance education and videoconferencing equipment in the member districts.  The SWREC helps members districts to utilize this equipment, coordinates professional development, and facilitates distance education.
