Youth Service
WIA is a program that meets the academic and employability needs of the eligible youth in Sierra County. The focus of the Sierra County Youth Services Program is to provide In School and Out of School Youth.

Youth One-Stop-Shop (YOSS)
The goal of Sierra Youth Services is to provide a Youth One-Stop Shop for youth ages 14 - 21 who meet eligibility guidelines. Operating year-round, the YOSS will also provide the following services:
· Career guidance
· Literacy training · Elective high school credit · Job-Shadowing · Internships · Paid job opportunities · Career resource materials · Twelve month follow-up
New Mexico Workforce Connection
Employers and Youth can make job connections at the New Mexico Workforce Connection. If you are an individual living in New Mexico, this free site will help you select a new career, find a good job, locate a suitable education or training program, create effective resumes and letters, plan your finances and find benefits you may qualify for, in addition to providing many other useful services. If you are an employer in New Mexico you can post your job openings and review the resumes of potential employees. The site will also help you analyze the local labor market, review suitable training programs as well as access information concerning human resources, legal issues and labor relations, and more.
Career Resource Center
The Youth One-Stop Shop collaborates with the Career Resource Center at Hot Springs High School. Services provide by the Career Resource Center include:
· Research colleges
· Study for ACT's · Prepare portfolios · Prepare resumes · Research job opportunities · Work on job applications · Set career goals
Eligibility Requirements
Eligibility requirements for the Youth One-Stop Shop consist of the following:
· In School or Out of School Youth ages 14-21
· Meets the lower-income requirements and · Has a barrier to education and/or employment such as: a) School Drop Out b) Basic skills deficient c) Homeless, Runaway, or Foster Child d) Pregnant or Parenting e) Youth Offender f) Youth with Disabilities g) Gifted Youth h) Local Area Identified 6th Barrier
Southwest Regional Education Center offers technical assistance and various additional resources to member and participating districts to help insure that all students receive a free, appropriate education. Additional information regarding the WIA or YOSS can be accessed from the WIA Links page.
