At SWREC, our dedicated Technology Services team is committed to ensuring our internal systems are robust, secure, and always up-to-date, providing a seamless technological environment for our operations. We work diligently behind the scenes to keep our technology infrastructure running efficiently, allowing our staff to focus on their core missions.
Our Core Internal Responsibilities Include:
Technology Management and Maintenance:
We proactively manage and maintain all SWREC technology systems, ensuring hardware and software are current, functional, and optimized for performance.
Cybersecurity and Data Protection
Safeguarding our digital assets is a top priority. We implement and maintain comprehensive cybersecurity measures to protect SWREC’s data and network infrastructure.
Website and Social Media Management
We are responsible for the ongoing development, maintenance, and content updates for the SWREC website and our official social media channels, ensuring timely and accurate information dissemination.
Internal Support and Training
We provide direct, in-house technical assistance to SWREC staff for day-to-day technology needs, from basic connectivity and audio/visual setup to general troubleshooting.
Conference & Event Support:
We offer comprehensive logistical and technical support for SWREC-hosted events, and often for NM PED bureaus’ conferences and trainings. This includes creating necessary materials like door signs, assisting with registration processes, and managing virtual platforms such as Zoom hosting.
District Communication & Information:
We regularly inform our district partners about relevant training opportunities and important technology updates.
Limited Services Offered to Our Districts:
While our primary focus is internal, SWREC’s Technology Services team may offer specialized professional development opportunities directly to our district members. These can include:
Staff Trainings: We can provide tailored training sessions for district staff on emerging technologies and the effective integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into educational practices.

Amber Richmond joined the Southwest Regional Education Cooperative (SWREC) in July 2022 as an Instructional Specialist, bringing with her over 16 years of experience in education. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education with endorsements in Reading, English Language Arts (ELA), and Technology, along with a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership. Amber also holds a K–12 Administrative License, equipping her with both the instructional and leadership expertise necessary to support educators at every level.
In her current role, Amber works closely with school staff across eight different school districts, providing targeted support through professional development, instructional coaching, and mentorship. She facilitates a variety of trainings tailored to the evolving needs of educators, helping them implement research-based strategies that improve student outcomes. Whether working one-on-one with teachers, leading collaborative team meetings, or supporting district-wide initiatives, Amber is known for her thoughtful guidance and commitment to fostering growth in others.
Amber’s work extends beyond instruction—she has also taken on the role of IT support for the SWREC. In this capacity, she troubleshoots technical issues, maintains technology systems, and ensures that staff has the tools they need to succeed in an increasingly digital learning environment. Her dual role highlights her adaptability and her willingness to step in wherever help is needed.
Throughout her career, Amber has remained passionate about empowering educators and creating positive, supportive learning environments for all students. Her combination of instructional knowledge, leadership skills, and technical expertise makes her a valuable resource and trusted partner for the schools she serves.
