Spotlight from our Executive Director
SWREC 10: Supporting Educators, Strengthening Schools, Serving Students
The Southwest Regional Education Cooperative (SWREC 10) is one of 10 Regional Education Cooperatives serving New Mexico schools. As a regional partner, SWREC is committed to supporting educators, school leaders, and students across southwest New Mexico by providing resources, professional learning, coaching, and services designed to meet the unique needs of our member districts.
SWREC proudly serves eight member districts: Animas, Deming, Lordsburg, Hatch, Silver City, Truth or Consequences, Reserve, and Cobre.
More Than Professional Development
SWREC provides a wide range of services designed to help districts maximize resources and strengthen educational opportunities for students. These services include Medicaid billing support and consortium pricing that allows member districts to access online educational platforms and resources, including programs such as Subject.ai and Edgenuity.
Perhaps most importantly, SWREC provides coaching, training, and mentoring for teachers and administrators. Professional learning opportunities are designed around the needs of educators and schools and include topics such as executive functioning, special education, mathematics, student engagement, CPI, leadership, and many others.
And when a school or district has a specific need, SWREC can tailor professional learning to meet it. Whether a district is looking for support with a particular instructional strategy, leadership challenge, student need, or school improvement priority, SWREC works alongside educators to develop learning experiences that are relevant, practical, and meaningful.
A New School Year, New Learning Opportunities
The upcoming school year brings an exciting lineup of professional learning opportunities for educators and school leaders.
SWREC will offer two mathematics professional learning series designed to address the different instructional needs of teachers across grade levels:
- Kβ3 Mathematics Series β focused on building strong foundational mathematics instruction for our youngest learners.
- Grades 4β12 Mathematics Series β designed to support teachers in strengthening mathematics instruction and student learning across upper elementary, middle, and high school.
In addition, SWREC will continue its teacher mentoring and coaching program, providing individualized support to teachers who are in their first three years of teaching or who have been referred to the program.
SWREC will also offer two Leadership Academies for building principals and assistant principals.
The first Leadership Academy is designed for building leaders who want to network with colleagues, strengthen their leadership skills, and deepen their understanding of leadership practices aligned to the EXCEL evaluation rubric.
The second Leadership Academy is designed specifically for school leaders who want to sharpen their skills in observing and providing feedback on mathematics instruction.
Professional Learning at No Cost to Our Member Districts
One of the many benefits of being a SWREC member district is that all SWREC professional learning opportunities are FREE to educators and leaders in our eight member districts.
Registration links for this yearβs professional learning opportunities will go live during the first week of August.

We are proud to serve the educators and students of southwest New Mexico and are committed to helping our member districts build capacity, strengthen instruction, develop effective leaders, and create better learning experiences for every student.
SWREC 10 is here to support our schools, invest in our educators, and help our region thriveβone educator, one leader, and one student at a time.
